| Description:
This project features 8 Ankylosaur scutes (armor plates) from one
location (channel deposit). All scutes were found in the same layer and
within an 8 foot radius. It is believed that all belong to one animal,
but this cannot be said for certain. Each scute represents a different
place on the dinosaur. Scutes (CKP-512) and (CKP-518) are opposites of
each other. All others come from different sections of the body. This
is a very rare set of fossils from the Hell Creek Formation. In the PREPARATION CONDITION line for each fossil, we have stated the current condition of the fossil as of 1/10/2008. We are still working on some of the fossils. All have gone under our extensive consolidation, where we prepare and then soak the fossil in PVA/Vinac, a museum accepted glue. Some of the scutes still need a final cleaning, they will then be soaked one more time and ready for display. Once prepared through our process, each fossil can be handeled without fear of it falling apart.
